Do You Have The Right Premise?

 

Today's Verse is Matthew 21:27

And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 

    Why did Jesus answer a question with a question? It is because, those asking are working with a false premise, which must be exposed. And because they refused to even examine that premise, no answer is given to them. What of you? do you allow the mirror of God’s Word show you what you are, and in seeing yourself in it, do you allow what you see to change you, or are you as James described: a hearer of the word, and not a doer, even as Jesus described the man that built his house upon the sand. But if we should recognize that Jesus’ Authority is from God, and not only hearing his Word, but doing it by the strength of his Spirit even so shall we be blessed in our deeds. Amen.
