Today's Verse is Amos 4:4
Come to Beth-el, and transgress;
At Gilgal multiply transgression;
And bring your sacrifices every morning,
And your tithes after three years:
Beth-el, the House of God, but no longer. Gilgal, the place where the Law was presented but not heard. What good are sacrifices when you reject the one you are sacrificing to? What good are your tithes, if they be misappropriated? We have learned that Obedience is better than sacrifice, but because we have nothing to give, even more, we have learned that mercy is better that sacrifice. Later in this passage that he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, And declareth unto man what is his thought. . .Truly in this world where down is called up, and up is called down, Good is counted as evil and evil good, God is angry! Will you therefore, seek him out, find out what he has said, and do it? Yea, Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, /And ye perish from the way. Amen.
