Maintaining Good Works

 

Today's Verse is Titus 3:8

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. 

    I wish to point out here the order. First, comes belief, and then only after we have trusted in Christ Jesus as our Saviour, that he will keep us safe in him to life eternal are we to seek to maintain good works. Consider what Paul taught elsewhere on this: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Why? Because, we are his [Christ’s] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Therefore, because you have believed, let others see the work God is doing in you, that they also might come to the knowledge of the Grace God as prepared for them. Amen.
