What Do You Allow To Control You?

Today's verse is Deuteronomy 29:6
Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.

While fasting is mentioned here, I will not seek to comment upon it. However, I wish to comment on the need of soberness, that we might know the Lord our God. There are many “faiths” which require one to take various substances that they might experience the things of the world of the spirits. As we find here, this is a deception, and not of the Most High God. Have we not been told by Paul: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; . . . From this I understand that we are not to submit to anything to control us other than the Spirit of God (in soberness,) who shall make it possible for us to Obey the Word of God, which he has given us that we might know Him that loves us, and learn his ways that we might walk in them to please him, that Died for us, and Rose up again, that we also might walk in newness of life. Amen.

To God be the Glory
