In Humility, Or Pride?

Today's verse is Luke 23:8
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

Herod was a man of considerable power, and he could have gone to see Jesus at any time. Once, he did attempt to summon the Son of God to him, but was rebuked by the same. And now, when it is time for Jesus to fulfill his purpose, the reason He clothed himself in flesh, even in the likeness of men, Herod’s desire was brought to naught. When we come to Jesus, or if we be so blessed, he comes to us, we must accept him on his terms (He is God after all.) Then when we do, miracles or no, we cannot imagine what he has prepared for us. Amen.
