Today's verse is 1 Samuel 6:5
Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
We see here the natural man’s reaction to encountering God. They just wish to be left alone, unchanged, to return to their own ways, and to their own gods. The fear they had when God was in their midst, they just want to forget. This is we that have embraced the Salvation the Lord gives must pray, for once we were the same way, and even now we must guard our hearts, lest we also turn aside. So, pray, first for ourselves that he keeps us in his way as he has promised, then for them, that their hearts of stone might be made of flesh, that they too might hear and receive the good news of the Gospel, that they might also repent, and turn to the true God, even as he has drawn us to him. Amen.
To God be the Glory
