Abraham's First Experience Of God's Faithfulness

Today's verse is Genesis 12:17
And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.

When God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, Why did Abraham believe that God would rise up Isaac from the grave? With the promises God had given Abram before this moment, and the actions Abram took which put God’s promise in question, that without God’s intervention his promise would be voided. Therefore, we see God act. And in God’s actions he rebukes all involved, and his hand could be seen and understood by all. And Abram began to see that God keeps his promises. But now we have God’s Word, and as God was merciful to Abram (and even Pharaoh) in these circumstances for their ignorance. we do not have that same excuse. And as we have access to more of the Character of God: To who much is given, much is expected. So as Abraham had learned that God keeps his promises, let us learn what those promises (that God had given us) are, and live accordingly. Amen.

To God be the Glory
