Today's verse is Psalm 52:8
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God:
I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
Consider when David wrote this: He had been running from the king, seeking alms from the Priests, and hiding wherever he could find a place, or even a hole in the ground. Yet, David also saw the blessing God was giving him. His Parents were given a place of safety. He had men come to his service, that is another story of itself. So, David, trusted the God that had anointed him King, counted himself blessed, though none of God’s promises were yet in sight. What of you, what promises has God made you? What has God called you to do? Have you accepted that greatest of promises: The forgiveness of your sin, by the Blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ? Selah [Consider where David is as he wrote this psalm, and whether God kept his Word, for did not David become Israel’s Greatest King, by God’s testimony?] Amen.
To God be the Glory
Scott
