Comfort In Grief

Today's verse is Genesis 45:27-28
And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:
And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

Israel grieved for Joseph for over 22 (13+ 7 + 2) years, while Ezekiel obeyed God when he was commanded not to morn. What is the difference? Consider this, Joseph was still alive, God's purpose for him, which had been revealed to Israel has not yet been completed. With Ezekiel, God's purpose for the passing of his wife was also revealed. So whether or not Israel remembered Joseph's dreams or not they were the means by which God's grace was manifested to Israel. So, while Israel's reality did not match the truth Israel had cause to grieve. So, if you are grieving, take comfort in God's Word, remembering that there is a time to grieve, and look for the comfort that God has for you. For it is there to be found if you look. Amen.
