Today's verse is Jeremiah 2:19
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
The Scoffer says, “Where is the judgment of God?” and even concludes, “God cannot be all good and all powerful!” But where is that judgment? It is the very Evil that the scoffer cries against. As we learn from this verse, that the Judgment, yea, rather the correction of God, is the very evil we produce as we forget him, as we fail to fear him! But you ask, “Where is the goodness of God then?” First, he has provided a way of repentance, even though his Son, Jesus Christ, whom we killed in our hatred of God, But God rose him up the Third day, and made him the hope of all that will turn to him for Salvation. And secondly? Even that we are not yet already in hell, or worse the lake of fire, for God is long-suffering, and is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance. Are you of such? Would you be one of those that escape? Turn to Jesus Christ, Trust in his finished work, and see what God will do in you. Amen.
To God be the Glory
