Learning From Another's Sin

Today's verse is Acts 5:4
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

.    Much has been made by the phrase made earlier, “They had all things common.” What was the sin of Ananias and Sapphira? Was it they keep part of the sale of their property? No, Peter is very clear here. It is that they sought the notoriety of having given all of their land to the cause, it was their motive, as well as their lie that brought death upon themselves. Note, it was God’s immediate Judgment that brought fear, and that fear Glorified God, and while some were turned away, even more repented and found redemption. Selah [What other conclusions can you make of this.] Amen.

To God be the Glory
Scott
