The Cost to Follow Christ
Today's verse is Matthew 8:19-20
And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
A couple of days ago, we saw God’s promise to provide for those that seek his Kingdom, and his righteousness, but here we see that to follow Christ does not come without cost. For the servant is not greater than the Master, and those that hate the Master will also hate the servant. But consider and compare this: When we follow Christ, do we gain more or less than what we lose. What is a house, or home compared to the splendors of Heaven, or God’s coming kingdom on Earth. Here is but the first challenge to first count the cost of following the one who would die in our place (and has done just that.) So for what he has done for you, what price are you willing to pay to do as he wants of you? Amen.
To God be the Glory
