Enduring the Cross

Today's verse is Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, told us that we need to take up our Cross daily, and follow him. No cross by definition is easy to bear and is in some form or another painful. It also may be worse than any chastening we may need to receive; however, we have here Christ’s example, for while he endured the cross, he did so looking forward to the joy of a relationship with all of us who would and will receive this precious gift of salvation from our sins. Amen.
