The Source Of Sound Doctrine

 

Today's verse is John 7:16

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me

  Paul had admonished both Timothy and Titus to hold to sound doctrine. This is that which Jesus is speaking of here. Our Savior confessed that his opinion was as nothing, and if so of him, what of us? But, it is that which the Father has given, even what he has given through his Son, his Word. So as we speak to others, we are not to give them what we think, but what does God say, for that is what is truly important, and it is only by God’s Word that the righteous should be persuaded to follow Christ, or the wicked convinced of their sin. Amen.
