Of What We Can Be Certain

Today's verse is John 13:3
Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

  What a contrast between the assurance, or certainty that Jesus has here, and the uncertainty that is expressed by the Psalmist in Psalm 6. Now some would say, that Jesus is God, of course he was certain. But while his primary purpose was to come and take our place, he is still an example to us, and by the promises God has given us, we also can be certain of certain things. We can be certain of our Salvation, knowing that we have been forgiven of our sins, though the Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We can be certain of what in general God wants us to do, and we even can be certain of what our very next step ought to be. Are not these things the psalmist questions? Selah [Think on this.] Amen.
