Seeking God's Counsel?
Today's verse is I Samuel 30:8
And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Finally, David seeks guidance from the God of Heaven. From being delivered from Saul, to serving the leader of the enemy of God’s people, to having all that he and his men had (including their families taken,) David did not seek counsel of God, but now, that all these things have transpired, he does, and God answers and blesses him. This is a contrast, for before the battle with the Philistines, Saul also sought God’s counsel, but God refused Saul, as Saul had often refused to obey the counsel God had already given. Saul, working according to the flesh, found Judgment, David, seeking God’s grace found Grace. Both had a battle before them, Saul lost, David Gained. Which are you? Are you seeking to please God out of your own resources? Or are you leaning upon God, knowing it is impossible to please him unless to come to him on God’s terms and not your own? The choice is yours, What will you do? Selah [Think about this.] Amen.
To God be the Glory
