How Does God Judge?
Today's verse is I Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
We have a tendency to judge, or appraise others by their appearance, and sometimes we will take account of their actions, at other times we will accept them because of their promises to us. Yet God, while taking account of some of these things, also knows all of our motives, the why we do the things that we do. So let us examine ourselves, and check not only are we doing what we ought to be doing, but are we doing these things because God is our God, and it is for him, that we do the things that we do, and our chief motive is to please him. And if such is so, as David was chosen above all of his (older) brethren, so too will God chose and promote us, to his Honor, and Glory. Amen.
