The Right Focus
Today's verse is Colossians 3:2
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
A simple command, yet one of the hardest to obey, yet it could also be the easiest. All things whether they be good for us or bad, all things desirable, or undesirable come from God. We are not to focus on any of these things without recognizing that it is a gift that God has given to us, and it is to God that we give the honor and praise for the thing. The danger is that we become not consumed with God but solely consumed of the thing. There are things that we must be consumed with, yet if we forget God, because of the thing, we have sinned, and it has become a snare unto us. So, if ye are consumed with anything, be ye also consumed with God because of the thing, but if ye cannot do this, discard the thing and be consumed with God, for truly he is worthy of all that we are. Amen.
To God be the Glory
