Peace and Good Will
Today's verse is Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace,
Good will toward men.
When I had first heard this, when I was but a child, my thought was, “What peace? What good will?” and “Why?” Now I understand, Jesus came because there is a great gulf fixed between God and Man, and the wrath of God abides upon all men. Yet God loves each and every one of us and did not wish for this gulf to remain unresolved. Mankind did not have any ability, nor even a desire to do anything about this divide, but God could, and through Jesus Christ, God did. This is the peace, and this is the good will spoken of here, and God by Jesus Christ paid a great price and terrible for this peace. So let us give thanks and rejoice and fail not to accept this great gift. Selah [Think on This.] Amen.
To God be the Glory
