What God Says About "When in Rome. . ."
Today's verse is Leviticus 18:3
After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
Most of us have heard the adage, “When in Rome. . .” Yet we see here, not just counsel, but a command that where ever we may be, we are not to follow the customs and morals of the people there, but we are to obey the counsel and commands of the Most High God. We find in another place in scripture that we are to be an Ambassador to all that we meet, representing the one that died for us, and being that representative we need to allow him to shine out from us. We simply cannot do that if we follow the customs of those about us. So let us seek to please the one that died for us, conforming not to the world about us, but conforming by his Spirit to the image of Christ, that all about us can see his love for them. Amen.
