A Glimpse of God
Today's verse is Exodus 24:10
And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
Another verse that I have not noticed before. . . We have here Moses and the leaders of Israel getting a glimpse of God. Now, one would think that once this has happened, that such people would be less likely to stray, yet just forty days after this event, Aaron who participated, having seen God and a portion of his grandeur (consider the description) then made an Idol in the form of a bull which has no part in the description here given to us. Let us, therefore, fear, for as we seek God, he will show himself to us, but that sight is so . . . that we find ourselves looking for a way of turning away. Our God knows this, and has given us his Spirit that we might have his help at such times, so if this is where you find yourself, do not delay, turn back to him that loves you, and as you decide instead to trust Him, he shall give you strength to stand in his presence. Amen.
To God be the Glory
