A Look At Jesus Christ
Today's verse is Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
We have here a description of Jesus Christ and this description says five things about our Savior. The first two show the relationship he has to the Father, and that they are inseparable, and almost indistinguishable one from the other. The third tells us that all things that are, are sustained by him, as a continuous work, of which he does not rest, nor does he grow weary of (learned from other texts.) The Fourth, the Glorious fourth, by him we have redemption, a clearing of our sins, even a full removal of our sins, by him our sins are gone, done away with: eradicated! And finally the fifth, He is now at rest, all of his work is finished (except the third) and he is in his place seated at the Fathers right hand. His work at our redemption is fully finished, there is nothing left for us to do, but to receive it, accept it, and rest in it. Amen.
To God be the Glory
