What God Said He Would Do Is Done, Though Not Yet
Today's verse is Genesis 48:22
Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
Here is an example of faith: Jacob had not taken any land out of any hand at this time, though two of his sons had slain the men of a whole town, to the displeasure of their father. Yet Jacob speaks of what is to come in the past tense, or as if it has already happened. This is because he trusted God to do that which he had already promised, and though it has not happened yet by our counting of time, it has already happened, because God said that it would happen. “Calling those things that be not, as though they were.” What promises do you have from God? Whatever they are, you can count them as already done, even if you have not yet seen the budding of the flower, nevertheless not yet able to pick the ripe fruit from the tree. For what God had said, he will do. Selah [Think about this.] Amen.
