Hard Requests

Today's verse is Genesis 16:8-9
And he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

In and around this passage we see some hard things. Hagar knowing she is with child of her master, despises her mistress. Sarai, her mistress, responds in kind, so Hagar runs away. So now here we are, and God steps in and entreats her to return. Many wrongs were done here, and I cannot say any were doing right, but there are times when we need to endure, and as God had promised Hagar blessing for her obedience, so too will be bless all those that must suffer as they follow him. Hagar recognized that God saw her, and her plight. Her response was to ask herself what she had done for him. Should we do any less? For God knows us and our troubles, and he is ever ready to aid all that call upon him. Sometimes, even as he has done for Hagar, stepping in and intervening before we ask. Such is God, and Such should be our response. Amen.
