Destroying the Old, To Build The New

Today's verse is Jeremiah 31:28
     And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them,
      To pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down,
      And to destroy, and to afflict;
      So will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

We have here a tried and true method which in some form we that have trusted Jesus Christ must endure. For when we come to Christ, we bring with us baggage that must be discarded and destroyed. Some of it is stripped off easily, but others must be rooted out, dug out which is a painful process, but still it must be done, but still trust in your God for he watches over you throughout all of this, lovingly measuring out what is necessary, keeping it within what you can bear. Then there shall come a day when all of the old will be torn away, and he then can start to build up and plant those thing in you which please him, and words cannot express the Joy that will follow. So then let us look up to him that loves us, who died for our sins, and know that when he comes again we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Amen
