A Reward To The Faithful

Today's verse is Jeremiah 39:17-18
But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

Ededmelech, of whom this passage is speaking, aided Jeremiah when he was in the miry pit, rescuing him out of that pit, which angered many powerful people. Here we see God remembering this work of faith, and rewarding the doer of it.  And so we see here the principle that Jesus spoke of when he said that if someone just shares a glass of water to one that follows Jesus as his follower, that person will not go unrewarded. While that reward can take many forms, to receive the  best reward, we must be in the family of God, by trusting in the work Jesus Christ has done for us. So let us therefore not miss out, nor lose our reward as others have who obeyed not the Word of God, when they heard it. Amen.
