Today's verse is Genesis 40:23
Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Is this to say that God had forgotten Joseph? Or was it that the time was not yet ripe for Joseph’s release from prison? What of Mordecai’s reward for saving the Kings life (delayed 12 years,) it is for these reasons, and others, we must be willing to be patient (wait on the Lord,) for he sets up these appointments to be resolved, and to bring about his purpose at the proper time. Consider, if the butler had petitioned the King immediately, would the King have been able to find Joseph when he needed the interpretation of his dream? Or if Mordecai had received his reward immediately, would it have been Mordecai and not Haman hanged upon Haman’s gallows? Therefore, “Wait upon the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say upon the Lord.” Amen.
To God be the Glory
