A Hidden Sacrifice

Today's verse is Mark 6:31
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

Jesus and his disciples left to a desert place to rest and supposedly to eat, yet when they arrived the people were already waiting for them, so when Jesus fed the people (The five thousand) as the disciples served them, I can imagine they were quite hungry themselves. Consider also, an illustration, or parable, Jesus gave when teaching his disciples to pray; “But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?” I imagine the disciples where not the first to eat. But who do you imagine was the last to eat? Was it not even Jesus, the Master? For Jesus’ sake, are you willing, even when your need is great, to put others first, as we are given example here? Selah [Will you serve him even when you are hungry?] Amen.
