How To Eat The Bread of Life
Today's verse is John 6:51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Here is a passage, and its following explanation, that is often misunderstood. The key to understanding it is from a following verse: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” From this we can understand that the passage can be understood as a metaphor. Now, we also know that Jesus Christ is literally the Word of God, so if we mix the symbology , we can understand the truth Jesus is teaching us. Consider, that Jesus testified when he was tempted, that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God; therefore, we can understand that by reading God’s written Word, we are indeed eating the flesh of Jesus Christ. But not just reading, but believing and heeding, for it is only by God’s Word that we know that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and was raised again for our justification. So Selah [Think about this.] Amen.
