The Most Important Aspect of Repentance
Today's verse is 2 Chronicles 30: 18-20
For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one
That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.
The people following the invitation of the King, but having forgotten the way of God, as recording in his Word, did not approach God has he has commanded in his Word. This can be a dangerous thing, but we see here that some things are more important than others. Such as seeking the one true God over the ceremonial cleansing. The passover is a picture of what Jesus Christ was to do on the Cross for all that would come to him, so in observing the passover, even though unclean, they where looking to the one that would cleanse them from all unrighteousness. So for those that have not known the power of the Cross come an see what Christ has done for you, and for those that for one reason or another turned aside, as well as those that have been stedfast, remember, and rest in the one that loves you, and he will set you, once again, in a right path. Amen.
To God be the Glory
