Today's Verse is Psalm 85:9
Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him;
That glory may dwell in our land.
It appears to be a common teaching today, that to fear God is merely to be in awe of him. To this, I wish to vehemently disagree. Both Paul and Peter have expressed fear, Terror, even at the thought that the Redeemed will have to answer for every deed done in the body, and every word, whether in earnest, or idle, must be accounted for. To Fear God is to know that he hates, cannot even abide sin, whether major or minor, and all of it must be dealt with in the most harshest of retribution. However, if there was no hope of redemption, this fear would be worthless, pointless even, and the saying, “Let us eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die.” would be the best course of Action. Here is where Awe comes in, because God, the most Righteous Judge of all the earth is willing to Forgive, and through his Son has made it possible for even the most vile of sinners to find Redemption by the Propitiation available only by the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. So, will you fear God, and come to him for forgiveness of your Sin? Selah [Let this sink in, and Fear!] Amen.
To God be the Glory
