Riches Or Righteousness

Today's verse is Proverbs 11:4
Riches profit not in the day of wrath:
      But righteousness delivereth from death.

There is a natural tendency to trust in the labor of one’s own hands, and the increase that might bring. But when turmoil comes, it is not any material wealth that will save. Consider Noah, true, he built a boat, but he built a boat, because in pleasing God, God told him to build that boat, and thus, obeying God, being counted righteous in God’s eyes, Noah was saved from the destruction of the entire world. So, what of you, do you trust in your wealth? What of your own rectitude? Know now, that Jesus Christ came to save sinners, for even our own righteousness is abhorrent in his eyes. But all who will trust in him, he will redeem, and give power to live soberly, righteously, and godly, even in this present ungodly time. So, in what do you trust? Selah [Consider this carefully.] Amen.

To God be the Glory
Scott
