The Refining Of God's People

Today's verse is Malachi 3:2-3
But who may abide the day of his coming?
And who shall stand when he appeareth?
For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver:
And he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Whenever we face an hardship, or difficulty, or as James calls it, a Fiery trial, and for whatever reason that trial comes into our lives. Whether for correction, or as with Job, for the proving of the Saint (and God’s Glory) or if it is as part of the fulfillment of our purpose (taking up our Cross) our God will take the occasion and use it to refine us, to rid us of some of the dross, or sin, in our lives that we might be able to walk even closer with him. So if we are facing a time of difficulty, let us do even as James and Peter command, and rejoice, for we are truly in the Hand of our Savior, and we can be confident that we will come out more like him than when we went in. Amen.

To God be the Glory
