We Cannot Use God!

 

Today's Verse is 1 Samuel 4:11

And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

    This bears repeating, God is not our servant, but we are to be His. Even as God’s priests were making a mock of God’s Law, the people thought that bringing the Ark of the Covenant to battle would help them. But, not once did they think to inquire of God what they ought to do. So, the Ark of God was taken, and as God had said Hophni and Phinehas were slain, and when their Father heard about the ark, he died also. Therefore, let us refuse to take God for granted, and when we have a need, let us first ask of Him what we ought to do, knowing that He has already prepared for us an answer, and if not, we wait, examining ourselves, that we may confess our faults before Him, lest we have tarried too long. Amen.
