The Wrong Focus

Today's verse is Matthew 15:7
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

There is a lot wrapped up in this misunderstanding. First, because of a guilty conscience about the wrong thing, they all misunderstand a teaching statement. And that is actually three things all wrapped up in one. Because they failed to learn that Jesus provides, they were focused on what they should eat, since they had no bread, but Jesus has already demonstrated that he is able to create abundance out of very little. As he took care for 9,000 people (actually more) he can, and will take care for your sustenance as well. But, what of that other thing, what he was actually attempting to convey? We have a similar problem today, with a couple of doctrines. Both of them relating to the surrounding context of this verse. Most importantly, whose righteousness do you wear, and whose provision do you seek? We have already covered the second. There is none that is able to enter into Heaven by his own merits, the bar is set too high, but there is one whose righteousness is sufficient, and that one has already paid the price you owe, will you cover yourself in his righteousness? Selah [Think about this.] Amen.
