Today's verse is Matthew 17:5
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Whether in the valley, or on the Mountain top, Peter shows us how we often lose the focus we should have. But, here on the mountain top, none other than the Father, reminds Peter, and us, upon whom our focus needs to be. Just before this verse Peter magnifies two other besides Jesus, but later he compares this whole experience as unreliable compared to recorded scripture. This here is the contrast, Our God has given to us Jesus Christ, and he has given to us his Word (Remember that another name for Jesus is The Word of God.) So, whether in the valley, or upon the Mountain (that is, in hardship, or in Great Experiences) keep your eyes and hearts and minds, and yes ears to Jesus Christ; listen to his Word, and allow him and only him to guide you through. Selah [Think on This.] Amen.
To God be the Glory
