Who is there that relishes being defrauded? I dare say, not a one of us. Yet the very end of this verse dares to suggest, yea, rather, commands that when dealing with our brother or sister in Christ, that we allow them to defraud us, than to allow the Name of Christ suffer. In another place we are asked, “What do you have that you have not received?” All that we may think is ours is not, but it has been given into our care by God, and if one steals from us, it is not from us he steals, but from God! Can we not then, follow his direction, yea his command, knowing that both that he can restore us, and them. Even if needs be he needs to chasten them for a time? Yea, do not we know that he always chastens his own? So, have you been defrauded by a brother, think nothing of it, for you know God knows your suffering, and has given you what you ought to do. Do that, and pray for those that have transgressed, and watch with amazement and fear as God deals with his own. Amen.
