Why All?

 

Today's verse is Joshua 8:1

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: 

    But wait, did not the Lord tell Gideon that 10,000 was two much, but Ai defeated Israel’s first 3,000? Why? First, Israel through Achan had sinned; therefore, the hand of God was against them. Second, they had forgotten to seek the Lord’s help, they did not even ask God for his direction. So that, what God did with 300, Israel could not do with 3,000. But why now was all of Israel to go up to Ai? I have my theory, but what can you glean from the surrounding passages to determine what God’s Purpose was by doing it the way he directed Joshua to defeat Ai?
